Startup Spotlight: AquaHive
Responsible water practices have become central to modern mining operations to mitigate environmental impact, but mine-water management has traditionally been a resource-intensive process. AquaHive, a Innovate Eastman Startup Program member, helps ease this burden by providing real-time data analysis.
AquaHive uses a smart, remote platform to monitor even the most isolated and volatile locations. By connecting to a vast selection of industrial sensors using a custom built-in reporting system, AquaHive’s flexible deployment options help facilitate environmental compliance and long-term planning while keeping users aware of critical events with real-time alerts.
“[Innovate Eastman] has helped train some of our junior staff by giving them a crash course on aspects related to business education,” says Mujungu Museru, engineer at AquaHive. “They’ve also made us aware of funding available to small businesses and offered advice on how to apply for different grants.”
AquaHive is currently involved in many exciting endeavours. They recently attended the Perumin 34th Annual Mining Convention in Arequipa, Peru and have established market validation by signing multiple new demo clients, including Teck-Elkview Mine Operations and Falco Resources.
Based out of an office in the Smartpark Innovation Hub at University of Manitoba, AquaHive leverages the collaborative environment to expand and continue to make a name for themselves in the industry. The team is diligently working to build more intelligence into the AquaHive Data Platform.
“We are currently working on a customizable dashboard that would allow the user to personalize key performance indicators,” says Museru. “The dashboard will act as the information aggregator for the team by tracking key monitoring information for different locations that show the status of the water monitoring project, its progress and the goals that need to be achieved.”
